Uganda NKG Bloom Silverback is the first Arabica release from the NKG Bloom Uganda initiative, sourced from smallholder cooperatives in the Bulambuli district of Eastern Uganda at the foot of Mt. Elgon. Grown at elevations ranging from 1,500 to 3,050 meters, farmers cultivate SL14, SL28, KP162, and KP423 varieties on small plots, delivering ripe cherries throughout a long, staggered harvest season.
Coffee is processed at the Bulambuli Washing Station, built in 2022 and operated by NKG exporter Ibero. Cherries are carefully assessed, floated to remove defects, and processed as either washed or natural. Washed lots are pulped, fermented, washed, and slowly dried on raised beds, while natural lots are dried under close supervision to ensure consistency and quality.
Named after Uganda’s iconic silverback gorillas, this coffee reflects strength, balance, and thoughtful craftsmanship—while also representing NKG Bloom’s commitment to supporting producers through agronomic training, soil analysis, and mobile money access.
